Ali Machinchy has commissioned a new livery for Florida Jets 2008 as seen below.

1/3rd scale Cessna Citation. One of Al's Latest and most impressive demo models. Built in Germany by the manufacturer Jet Welt this stunning model is powered by two brand New Jet Cat P-120 turbines. It carries 7 litres of fuel and flies in excess of 12 minute flights. All high-end JR Digital servos used throughout with a super powerful Multiplex on the rudder. Weatronic 12-24 Twin receiver with gyro and GPS used to control the model. This model weighs 24 Kg and has passed its over 20kg scheme with flying colours. And since has flown a total of 15 fault free flights. This model looks even more stunning in the air than it does on the ground, and is one the most impressive models on the current show circuit. A true pleasure to fly! Al has demoed this model from grass fields as well as tarmac, showing the models slow and short take off and landing capabilities as well as its aerobatic potential with loops and rolls all performed in a majestic manner. This is your opportunity to own and fly a truly awesome model Jet  Aircraft.

Skygate BAe Red Arrows Hawk

Skygate Red Arrows BAe Hawk.

Ali Machinchy's Red Arrows BAe Hawk, all new for 2007 the BAe Hawk is the much talked about model from German company Skygate. This particular model was built to order for Al by Skygate and took a full year to be delivered. All collected this model at the Jet Power show in Germany in September 2006. One week later the model was test flown at Long Marston airfield here in the UK. Al’s Hawk is powered by the latest Graupner G Booster 160+ Turbine, and with 37lbs of thrust it has a very scale like performance. Equipped with a 10-20R Weatronic twin receiver the model is flown using Al’s tried and tested Graupner MX22. The large size and light weight of this model endow it with an amazingly low wing loading. This enables the model to float at unbelievably slow speeds. At the time of writing Al is in fact working on making this model heavier, in order to cope better with the sometimes windy conditions here in the UK. Expect to see this model on the UK show circuit in 2007.  More Pictures

Globemaster III C17

This C17 was flown for the first time in October 2003. The model was built by Colin Strauss for the Discovery TV Programme "Supermodels". With a 5.76m wingspan, 5.90m length and weighs 90kg. This model is currently for sale priced at £25,000

This 1/9th scale radio-controlled C-17 model was built in the United Kingdom. To date it has about 20 flights. It was built as the centre piece of a 15 program television series produced in the U.K. for the Home and Leisure satellite TV channel. 2 x Brand New AMT Olympus HP Electric start turbines power this model. All top spec Futaba Digital Servos and a brand new Futaba 9C Radio supplied (This was the set the model was flown on) with multiple Futaba 9Ch PCM Receivers, multiple high power NiCad's. The model is supplied with all of the equipment that was flown with, inc the custom made trailer for transportation. Also included is the complete set of exemption paperwork from the CAA (UK Civil Aviation Authority) This is basically the models airworthiness certificate.

This one off special model is possibly the largest radio controlled model aircraft flying today. It was custom designed and built for a Discovery channel documentary by a team of 4 specialist modellers. A DVD of the entire series is available. The model features fully operational cargo door (That can operate in the air), It even has a custom built land rover vehicle mounted in a scale cradle as per full size that can be parachute dropped whilst flying. Full scale twist and turn electric retracts. Pneumatically operated huge flaps. This really is a chance to own a very unique special model that will most probably never be bettered.

1 : 10 Scale

Length: 17.4 ft

Weight :200 lb

Wingspan: 17 ft

Height 5.5 ft

Thrust: 80 lb

Turbines: Four RAM 750F

The design and construction of the model took place after Davie visited RAF Brize Norton to see the full-size C-17 Globemasters during a short visit to England February 2002. The serious design of the model started in March 2002 using AutoCad and took about 600 hours to complete. The result was a set of detailed drawings from which a kit of parts could be constructed.

Construction was started on 28th September 2002Details and Pictures

Airworld ASK 21 Glider JWD with JetCat P120

Al's Airworld ASK21 Turbine Gilder

Always on the look out for the unusual and impressive late last year Ali Machinchy came across the Airworld ASK 21. Originally designed as a slope sorer or flat field thermal sorer the Airworld ASK fitted the criteria for Al’s aerobatic glider requirement. The only problem being how to get 7 meters and 50 lbs of glider airborne here in the UK. In mainland Europe huge and powerful tugs are in abundance. Here in the UK they are far more scarce. That’s how the idea of fitting a turbine came about.

Airworld made a custom carbon fibre mount that is attached by only the wing spar, thus allowing the entire turbine assembly to be removed in minuets. This enables the ASK to be returned to the normal glider format with ease. At the time of making the order Al also took the liberty of ordering a second identical model for his good friend and flying buddy Dave Stephen's. Airworld constructed both models and delivered them in a ready to fly condition. Fitted with 8 High power JR servos. All that was required upon delivery was fitment of the turbines, and of course both models needed to pass the LMA over 20 kg scheme.

The turbines chosen are the JetCat P-120 producing 26 lbs of static thrust. At take off this means that both ASK’s have only a ½ to 1 power to weight ratio. Which seems inadequate when compared to the usual 1-1 that some of our jets have. Anyone that has seen either of these gliders fly will I am sure confirm that they are anything but underpowered. A typical flight routine will see manoeuvres such as loops, bunts, stall turns, wingovers , tight spiral circuits, rolls and multi point rolls performed. Basically some very un glider type hard aerobatics, just performed in a scale elegant glider type style.

What seems to surprise most people is how much punishment the wings will take on this model. It is rare to see the ASK’s wings in a unloaded state. They seem to spend most of their time in a positive or negative loaded state. Each wing consist of a foam core which is then laminated with a skin of carbon fibre. This is then covered in a balsa top skin which in turn is then finished in white Profilm. The end result is an incredibly stiff wing that seems to flex in all the right areas.

Full Size Glider Pilot Bob Carlton

On February 4th, 2007 this Twin AMT Jet Sailplane flown by Bob Carlton was out practicing at Estrella Sailport for the upcoming airshow season. The sailplane is called a Silent J and is powered by two small AMT Jet-A burning jet engines that are started with propane. Bob has a throttle for each engine strapped to his leg and can self launch the sailplane under it's own power. He flies for about 10 minutes or so doing some really marvellous manuvers and low level flight.
